The Calliak Forest is perhaps the largest and most beautiful forest on the planet. It separates the western coast from the rest of the continent, following along that coast from the far south to the Snar Mountains. Leonce, the Imperial City, is located in the south of the Calliak Forest, as is Castle Kershmede, in the central region.

Kingdom of Freemen

The western coast was, for nearly a century, the lands of the Kingdom of Freemen. Freeman followed the philosophy that all non-human races were greatly inferior, and therefore their place in society was to serve Humans. Freemen practiced slavery and was constantly in conflict with the Empire of Catalania. About 15 years ago, both nations declared war, beginning the First Freemen War. In less than a year, however, the Empire had defeated their enemy and occupied their lands.

With most of their greatest commanders alive and free, the birth of New Freemen in the southwest caught the Empire off-guard. This new offensive, which occurred just over six years ago, was brilliantly carried out with the aid of the High Temple of Gondor and the Central Barbarians. The Empire was not prepared for the war, with but a small force in the capital and little warning of the approaching threat. For the first time in history, the capital city of Catalania fell to an enemy, causing the Emperor and his armies to flee north to Lione. Still, in what was an epic two-year campaign, the Imperial forces later returned to their lands with a massive force, and their determination and experience ensured their victory.
