Wizards

The Gray Wizards

The Gray Wizards are a legendary society of spellcasters. They are said to inhabit a great mountain in the Blue Sun range. This mountain is presumably to the east of the Empire of Catalania.

To enter the Gray Wizards, the aspirant must have command over arcane magic. He takes a difficult test, and on passing it he is accepted into the Gray Wizards. The leaders of this society are the Mountain Wizard, the Master of the Mind, and the Master of Times Flow. The Mountain Wizard is the most powerful wizard among them.

It is said that there was a time when the Gray Wizards were well known among the populations of various nations. Now, however, few people believe they exist. The Gray Wizards have successfully concealed the location of their mountain with powerful magic, but are occasionally seen by travelers in the Blue Sun Mountains.

-The Mountain Wizard, Ledresit Palior

Ledresit Palior is from Destone, and completed his first studies with a local wizard. When he was 15, he traveled south to Port Serval and took up study with many different masters. Soon he was off to the north, and it was in Felineo that Ledresit became most famous, gaining recognition as the Conjurer of Felineo.

After a decade of service in one place, Ledresit moved into the Blue Sun Mountains. He adopted a secluded life, giving all of his time to his art. It was during this time - that some say was nearly a century - that Ledresit discovered the Gray Wizards. He joined them, passing their test with little effort, and shared his magical research with them. In turn, they made him a member of the Council of Twelve, and an instructor in their mountain.

It was not without patience and perseverance that Ledresit made it to his current position. He is considered on of the most educated wizards on the plane, with an awesome understanding of the art and the path to mastering it. He appears to be around 65 years old, and is about 1.85 tall. But seven years after he became a Gray Wizard, Hedersod was lured away from the mountain and imprisoned in a magical trap. He remained there until recently, when the energy of the prison expired. It was at this time that the late Master of the Mind, Enlix, was banished from the order. He was given his position immediately.

The Master of the Mind is responsible for the education of all the Gray Wizards and for maintaining all outside relations. He is a powerful mage, always researching curiosities in the Flow.

-Sfinder Flenot.

The young thief traveled for three days and neared collapse. He miraculously found a strange tower in the dunes, and when he entered it, he was greeted by a Djinn. After a short conversation, the Djinn had convinced Ardelingail to take a magical staff to Lione. In return, he promised Ardelingail he would live for many years.

They traveled south, and the Djinn spent much time teaching the thief the secrets of an art called the Radra. When they finally arrived in Lione, Ardelingail had become proficient in illusionist magic. He adopted magic as a way of life, and the Djinn, before disappearing in the city of Lione, gave him the Tomb of Fantasy, an artifact of Illusion.

Ardelingail traveled much in the north, but as he matured he sought a place to settle. He has a modest house in Orgoss.

The two fell in love, and Fevigia joined one of Karlins friends, the Halfling Skink, in convincing him to fight Gondor and returning to the side of good. She accompanied him to the high temple of Gondor, where after a desperate struggle, she watched Karlin perish. Shocked, she became an easy target for the High Messenger of Gondor, and was defeated also.

But it seems it was the will of the gods that they return and fight for the side of good. She reappeared on the shores near Brandon, and has been in that city for a few months, anguished with the many memories of her last battle.

-Hawking, Gray Elf Wizard of Whisperwoods

Hawking is a prominent figure in the society of the Gray Elves of Whisperwoods. He was born at their capitol, and when younger traveled with Artran Aralinur. Rogthelliak was born near Cellesse. He was raised in the united Catalania of the Messi. This simple fact places Rogthelliaks possible true age at about 1500 years.

The mage of Pallassi started out as an adventurer, and took up his studies as he traveled across the Empire. He learned under various masters and wise men, one of these being Crat Darha. After years of this intense lifestyle, he settled in Felineo for some time.

As favors for friends, he made frequent trips to Pallassi to investigate strange occurrences. He soon became a good friend of the nobles of Pallassi, and he spent much time traveling between that city and Felineo during the Oblivion. But when the Empire finally returned to the lands, Rogthelliak witnessed a terrible struggle among the nobles of Felineo for the control of their city, and the former king was driven away. Shocked at the aggressive posture of his neighbors, Rogthelliak moved to Pallassi at once and began to build a tower within the city. By the end of his first year at his new home, he had finished his tower and had been named the cities protecting mage.

She was raised away from her father with her mother in Lione, and leaned the basic principles of magic when very young under the supervision of a local teacher. She only started casting, however, years later in the city of Toufor. She had traveled to this city in search of a great wizard, but upon finding the individual, became greatly disappointed. Not only was he less experienced than her former teacher, but he was also about 22 years old - her same age at the time. The embarrassing situation was repaired when the young mage shared his library with Sadria. The seven hundred tombs where the source of Sadrias true initiation.

Sadria left Toufor for Catalania City five years later. She arrived in the city and instantly found opportunities serving the Imperial ruling class. Sadria also met Justin Blazonshield when he was passing through the city, and they have been meeting ever since.

-Sirintal

Sirintal is a powerful magical entity, and has been through the Oblivion which he, in part, caused. This Wizard is known to be an Immortal, and for nearly two decades occupied a place as a lesser deity to Grastmal. It is also known that he is not from the plane of Three Suns.

The tale of Sirintal describes him as an ambitious master on a distant alternate Prime Material Plane. He tried to destroy an immortal, perhaps on the Abyss, and was defeated. But before his final destruction took place, Grastmal - who inhabits the Abyss - intervened and snatched Sirintal away.

Sirintal recovered from his ordeal near the city of Catalania. Soon he was traveling across the continent, familiarizing himself with the many cities of the united Catalanian Empire. Sirintal was first noticed when he helped seven thousand Central Barbarians seize Jaguari. It was the only time in history that Jaguari was captured.

Sirintal became known as the Black Wizard, and his pact with Grastmal soon came apart. His great desire for power during the difficult last years of the Era of Destiny made him an antagonist in the grand style of Ansgar Draco and Ricard Falstaff. But although he was not as direct as these other individuals in his regular practices, he masterminded the key event that led to the Sacred Oblivion. Along with a powerful demon servant of Gondor from the Abyss, Sirintal created a race of evil beings to undermine the balance that the Essence had so carefully restored. These were the Dark Felines, creatures so wicked that if so much as a good intention were to cross their minds, they would die without salvation. Commanded by evil generals, they dominated the continent.

Sirintal stood back and watched his work. He spent the years of Oblivion seeking out heroes that insisted on resisting his control. When the Empire had finally returned to power, he had grown bored of controlling the continent. He prepared to become an immortal.

Fortunately, he had much trouble to become a god. First, all the other deities considered him a menace, and he had no support from any religious order. Second, there were many famous heroes that set out to stop him, and these individuals had the full support of the gods. Sirintal tried twice, and on both occasions slipped away from defeat and was temporarily banished. On his third attempt he made an alliance with Grastmal, and finally was taken into the Underworld.

But even as a god he felt great desire for more power. He engaged in an epic battle with Gondor, but was defeated. The Gods of Three Suns decided he should be punished, and he was stripped of much of his godly power. Still, Sirintal has been considered a great influence in magical affairs throughout the plane.

Sirintal is about 1.70m tall and has long white hair. Physically, he is very weak, and his skin is pale. Sirintal is mysterious, but extremely competent. Some say that the key to his motivations lie in his homeland, and that those who look him in the eye know what he is capable of doing.
